A decision-making group is a group where the goal is to arrive at an orderly judgment; this is usually achieved through a formal process of evaluation, analysis, and discussion.  The members within this group are not selected randomly; rather, they are requested or even ordered after a screening stage to determine if they are qualified to pursue the goals on which the group was formed.  A well-known example of a decision-making group is a jury (DeFleur, 2005).
