Human communication is a method of interaction in which people transfer ideas and messages through various forms of language (both verbal and nonverbal) within a certain context in order to provide meaning and ensure mutual understanding.  It occurs when one source encodes information and transmits the message to the receiver, who then decodes and interprets the message and offers a response.

The above clip is an example of interpersonal communication between a mother and daughter who's nonverbal behavior contradicts their verbal cues.  This clip also shows how advertisers utilize common communication concepts that emphasize a certain behavior in order to convey a metamessage and ultimately sell their product.
